Fabric

Insight - Grade A

Insight is a durable 100% polyester fabric with an acrylic backing, featuring rich, stain resistant colors. Abrasion rating is 192,000 double rubs. It can be cleaned with water based agents, foam or pure water-free solvents.

Origin - Grade A

Origin is a durable 100% polyester woven fabric with an acrylic backing that is stain resistant. Abrasion rating is 210,000 double rubs. It can be cleaned with water based agents, foam or pure water-free solvents.

Hue - Grade 1

Hue is crafted of 100% recycled polyester and features a latex backing and a teflon surface finish. Hue is extremely durable, an excellent choice for 24/7, multi-user applications as its abrasion rating is one million rubs. It can be cleaned with water based agents, foam or pure water-free solvents.

Consistent Full Grain Leather - Grade 5

Grade 5 corrected leather is available in black only but offers the beauty of true leather at a reduced cost. It is stiffer and may take a bit more time to soften up but should deliver the same or better durability.

Natural Top Grain Leather - Grade 6

Grade 6 top grain leather is extremely high quality and colored with pure aniline dyes. They feature rich colors and a durable, protective finish with a very soft and supple hand. Treat as you would any fine leather.

Natural Full Grain Leather - Grade 8

Prolence leather is the top of the line. It is a premium, top grain, European hide featuring aniline dyes and a transparent topical finish that protects from some stains and reduces moisture absorption. All colors are created in the initial dying phase. No shading or stains are added to the surface, so nothing obscures the natural shadings and typical surface irregularities. This creates an extremely soft hand and rich colors. Treat as you would any fine leather.

Back Shell

The mid back comes standard with the front side upholstered and a black back to match the frame, or upgrade to both the front and back of the seat back fully upholstered. The high back is only available in a fully upholstered model.

Lumbar Support

The Via Riva Ergonomic Task Chair is available with optional mechanical lumbar support. This adjusts with a knob and works well if you are experiencing discomfort in your lower back.

    Not for the petite user!

Posted by Lynette Tudorache on Jun 27th 2017

Bought this because it was recommended for petite users. I am 5' 1.5". This chair does not go as low as my Henry Miller Aeron chair that I was trying to replace because of the height of the seat cushion. It is a very "cushy" cushion, but it adds a couple of inches to the seat so my feet were still not sitting on the floor at the correct angle, and it caused my legs to go numb. The chair arrives with NO instructions on how to adjust. It took me a week to figure out the height adjustment, and I had to email support and go online before I figured out how to move the arms in (note, they do not move outward, only inward more). It's a mediocre chair you could get (and spend a lot less for) at Staples. My husband is using the chair in the meantime because between the restocking fee and cost of shipping (and adjusted return fee to cover the HumanSolution's portion of shipping "Free" to me) it would cost about 1/3 of what I spent on the chair to send it back. I'd rather donate it (might still) than lose this cost. I won't be ordering from HumanSolution again.

After spending almost $600, I learned that even THIS chair is too big for me (I'm 4'11")

    Posted by M. on Jan 12th 2016

Human Solution customer service, ordering, and shipping were great. Chair was also very easy to assemble/set up.

I opted for all of the add-ons that I felt would customize the chair enough to really fit my body, but:
    - The full-function arms do not come in close enough to rest my elbows at an ergonomically correct angle
    - The small seat is still too deep for me to rest my feet on the floor while making contact with the back, which also means that
    - The swivel tilt control with seat-slider and mechanical lumbar support do not come forward enough to properly cushion my body

I purchased an extra lumbar support cushion from Amazon, but it doesn't work very well either, getting caught in the gap between the chair back and the seat and "sinking down" when I rest against it.

Needless to say, I'm very disappointed having spent a small fortune on this "special" chair and will have to continue to try modifying it with cushions, foot rests, etc. I see that some women who are a little taller had good luck with this model, but if you are under 5'0" I recommend not wasting your money.

    Excellent Value

Posted by Laure on Aug 5th 2015

Just thought I'd toss this out - I've had a VIA chair that looks exactly like this model for 20 years, and while I do a lot more standing (and Swopping) as out understanding of healthy office work has changed, this chair is still comfortable and in excellent condition despite being my only office chair for 17-18 of those 20 years. My husband got an armless version at the same time and while his doesn't get the same workout as mine, it is also in perfect condition. If the quality is still there, this chair is totally worth the investment. Just make sure that the arm rests are low enough to prevent you from hunching your shoulders even a little bit, and you are golden.

    Via Riva Ergonmic Chair

Posted by Paulette on Aug 6th 2012

I love the chair, very comfortable for a vertically challenged person like myself. But, your customer service leaves alot to be desires. It took me several weeks to get my chair because the arms were on backorder. No problem. When it finally came it I opened the box, it was very easy to assemble. Great. But I noticed when I when to raise and lower the chair the level was install incorrectly. I called customer service, talked to several people, then was informed that another department would be calling me back. Several days passed and no call. I had to remove the level in order to raise the chair so I could use it. Bottom line, I love the chair, very comfortable, but it is no longer adjustable. Don't believe I would purchase another one from your company.

    Good chair for short person

Posted by Karen on Jun 15th 2012

This chair was recommended in web searches for those of us who are a short. Since I am on the computer all day, I needed a a chair that fit me really well, and this one does. I loved that I could order the color and options I wanted. Another great thing was that it came almost fully assembled and it was very easy to attach the base to the rest of the chair so I could start using it right away.

    Super chair

Posted by Robin on Jan 8th 2012

This chair is just what I needed. It is very good for a short person (I am 5 ft. 1 inch) since I can bring it down to 16 1/2 inches. The lumbar support hugs my back. The arm rests are adjustable and I can position them to just the right height. The seat cushion is fairly firm, but comfortable which I like. Definitely a good choice!

    ahhh relief!

Posted by Melissa on Jun 16th 2009

I spend about 6-9 hours a day at my computer and have been living off of a cheapie Office Max chair. I have mild scoliosis in my thoracic area and was getting back pain. This chair is without a doubt a major improvement. I got the inflatable lumbar support which I love with the exception that the vertical height of the back doesn't stay put. I pull it up but it eventually falls down to "rest" on my hips. I would have expected it to stay where I put it. As a result, when I move, I need to readjust the back a bit to keep it at the height I like.

This product comes standard with a two year warranty on the mechanical lumbar support, a five year warranty on upholstery, and a twelve year warranty on all other components. The warranty covers normal, single shift usage.
